Dear Friends,

Every day in Barry County, domestic violence victims are faced with difficult questions. Do you spend another day in your home with an abusive partner, or do you stay in your car or on the streets? How do you protect your children? Where can you go for help? Without the option of emergency shelter located close to home, for the sake of maintaining employment, support groups, and children’s school routines, most individuals would feel they have no choice but to remain with their abuser. In fact, victims return to their abusers an average of NINE times for lack of housing and resources.

Since 2004, Green Gables Haven has been dedicated to changing that by providing shelter and supportive services.

We offer vital, no-cost services to victims of domestic violence including safe shelter, food, counseling, and resources which enable women—and their children—to find safety from violence, rebuild self-esteem, and regain an independent life, free of abuse.

Providing Hope Forever...

For nearly 23 years, Green Gables Haven has provided a temporary, secure, nurturing environment and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence in Barry County. Yet, the needs of tomorrow demand more than the funding of today. To ensure that no individuals from our community go without our services, we must continue to build a permanent foundation of support.

Continued Efforts

In December of 2022, we launched a three-year, three-million-dollar Campaign to grow our Endowment Fund held at the Barry Community Foundation to allow for an increase of our ultimate self-sustaining goal. December 31, 2025, we celebrated much success with our efforts. While we didn’t quite meet our goal, we were able to increase the fund to a balance of just over three-million dollars.

Keep in Moving

Since January 1, 2026, we have continued to share and ask our generous donors to support what we are now calling our “On-Going Efforts to Provide Hope Forever” by continuing the campaign. The Green Gables Haven Endowment Campaign assists our organization in ensuring that those in need of our services will be met. Having an Endowment Fund that generates funds will allow an annual income stream, empowering us to serve families in need of support removed from domestic violence.

The Impact

Your gift to the endowment does not just pay for one month of services; it continues a perpetual gift that will keep Green Gables Haven open and available to those in need of our services, which include but are not limited to sanctuary, counseling, food, clothing, personal needs items, legal, medical and social advocacy, emergency transportation, direct services, case management and referrals to families in crisis.
